Christoph Vandory (Viola)
Christoph Vandory was born in 1991 in Munich and started taking viola lessons at the age of ten with Julieta Craciunescu. In 2009 he studied with Prof. Martin-Albrecht Rhode as a pre-college student at the Musikhochschule in Munich. A year later he was accepted as a full-time student and since 2011 he has been a student of Prof. Hariolf Schlichtig.
He took part in various masterclasses with Barbara Westphal, Andre Roy, Michael Tree, Stephan Fehlandt, Jean Sulem and Lars Anders Tomter. In April 2014 he attended the â€žInternational Musicians Seminar Prussia Coveâ€ś.
Besides his activity as the violist of the Goldmund Quartet, Christoph regularly gives concerts as a soloist and chamber musician. Concerts have brought him together with international artists such as Ingolf Turban, Christoph Poppen, Rebekka Hartmann, Arabella Steinbacher, Oliver Triendl and Boris Kucharsky. As a soloist he has played e.g. with the Philharmonic Orchestra Bad Reichenhall. In 2010 he performed the premiere of the concerto for viola and oboe by the german composer Kay Westermann. Concerts have taken him through Europe, as well as to Egypt, Oman, USA and Canada.
Christoph was prize winner of the national competitions â€žJugend musiziertâ€ś in Germany, where he also won the special award by Henle Edition. He has been a scholarship recipient from the Ingeborg Stachel foundation and since 2011, as a member of the Goldmund Quartet, he is scholarship recipient of the Yehudi Menuhin â€žLive Music Nowâ€ś society.Back
